Boston College-Texas: A 25-Inning Epic

At the start of the game, if you would have told Boston College or Texas that seven hours later the game still would not be over, they probably would have laughed at you.

On Saturday night, in a NCAA Austin Regional, history was made.

During the second inning, the Longhorns jumped out to a early 2-0 lead with a couple of home runs.

In the bottom of the fourth, Boston College cut the lead to just one when Matt Hamlet was walked and eventually made his way round the bases due to an RBI single by Mike Belfiore.

The Eagles tied the game in the sixth when Robbie Anson doubled and eventually made his way home thanks to a sac fly by Tony Sanchez.

Little did these two teams know the next 18 innings would be scoreless.

There was plenty of opportunities to score, Texas and Boston College combined to leave 36 runners on base, and were 3-of-29 with runners in scoring position.

In the 25th inning, Texas ended the scoreless streak. After Conner Rowe got a leadoff walk, he quickly moved his way around the bases, thanks to a sacrifice bunt and a wild pitch. Travis Trucker finally brought him home with an RBI single.
