Published by on June 25, 2009

Wednesday, Casey Rana (U Texas Permian Basin) held the Webster bats at bay, and Geneva’s offense struck early and late to defeat the Pinstripes 4-0 in New York Collegiate Baseball League action at Basket Road Field.

Webster left eight runners on base, as some of Rana’s best pitching came when the the Yanks had bases loaded in the fourth and two runners on in the third.

The Yankees’ leadoff batter reached safely in three stanzas, but Rana never flinched. The lefty struck out seven and walked one.

In the second, Steve Muoio (Georgia C & S) led off with a single and advanced to second on wild pitch. But Rana pitched out of the inning, getting a ground ball to short, a come-backer, and strike out.

Webster also slapped three hits in the fourth, but Rana got a weak pop out to end threat.

Geneva scored two in the first with two hits and a hit batsman off Yankee starter, Matt Jimenez (Mercyhurst). Jon Clinard (Austin Peay) swiped a pair of bases. Jack Wortley (U Texas Permian Basin) and Dan Pembroke (Dowling) supplied an RBI single and double.
