College World Series 2010: Why Florida State Has a Great Shot to Win

The Florida State Seminoles have a shot. Yes I know, they always say that. And 19 trips to Omaha have netted a big fat ZERO in the National Titles column. That almost defies logic.

Just using simple arithmetic, the 'Noles should have a one in eight shot to win every time they go to the College World Series. So 19 trips should have netted at least two titles by now. All the more reason to think FSU has a good shot this year. That blind squirrel should be coming close to finding that nut.

Florida State won the ACC Tournament this year. In case you haven't been keeping track, the ACC is pretty good. Clemson is on its way to Omaha. Virginia  will be playing tonight for another berth. Miami also played in a Super Regional. That's one fourth of the final 16 and at least one fourth of the final eight.

Florida is also bound for Omaha. Florida won the SEC regular season title this year. South Carolina came in second. Both are going to Omaha. Three other SEC schools played in the Super Regionals. All three came pretty close to making it. What does this have to do with FSU?

FSU beat Florida three times out of four meetings. All were single mid-week games....
