Arizona Baseball Preview: This Is The Year They Crash The Party In Omaha

The Arizona Wildcats enter 2011 with a young foundation that was built last year through trials, tribulations, and a playoff appearance. 

In 2010, Arizona baseball had five freshman on the field who were regular starters, multiple freshman in the rotation and a bullpen with one freshman emerging as an ace and one freshman as the closer.

Opening the season with 23 straight home games helped build their confidence and experience too.

"It was a young team so we kind of designed it that way they'd be home," Arizona head coach Andy Lopez said during a Tuesday practice. 

This year the Wildcats will have junior Bryce Bandilla as the new closer.

Bryce went back and forth between the bullpen and the rotation, pitching 77 innings and striking out 70 batters in 2010. It's safe to say that an experienced pitcher in the closing role is just what the Wildcats will need this year.

Coming into tonight's season opener against North Dakota State, the Arizona lineup looks like this:
