		<description><![CDATA[<p><span class="slot"><img src="/images/pixel.gif"></span>The Houston Cougars (7-5, 0-0 C-USA) split two games at home in midweek before heading on the road for a series against the Texas State Bobcats.</p>
<p>On&#160;Tuesday night, the Cougars fell&#160;to the McNeese State Cowboys (8-6, 0-0 SLC), 10-2.</p>
<p>The Cougars could only manage three hits in the game and committed three errors.</p>
<p>They sent four pitchers to the mound, with starter Datota Dill facing nine batters&#160;in a mere 1.2 innings, giving up two runs, both earned, and no hits while walking four.</p>
<p>His relief, Taylor Hammack, was not much better, facing 24 batters and giving up six runs on nine hits in 4.2 innings.</p>
<p>In the second game of the brief homestand, they downed Texas Southern, 13-2.</p>
<p>The Cougars had 17 hits, including six doubles and a triple against the Tigers. The hit total was the team's highest since recording 18 hits on opening day.</p>
<p>John Cannon led the way, going 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored.&#160;M.P. Cokinos added three hits, while Chase Jensen, Jake Runte&#160;and Matt Creel each had two.</p>
<p>In his first career start, Jordan Mannisto&#160;pitched 3.2 innings. He gave up two unearned runs on five hits with three strikeouts. Luke Moran&#160;improved to 1-0, pitching 3.1 scoreless innings with three strikeouts.&#160; Chase Wellbrock and Creel each added an inning of relief.</p>

<p>Catcher Michael Williams singled to the left side on a 1-0 pitch to score Braden Kapteyn from third for the winning run.</p>
<p>Utah got on the board first in the bottom of the first when short stop James Brooks scored from third on a sacrifice line out to left field by first baseman C.J. Cron.</p>
<p>Kentucky evened it up in the top of the fourth, when Kaptlen scored his first run of the game on a Brian Adams single down the third base line.</p>
<p>Jordan Cooper got the win for the Wildcats, going seven complete innings, giving up one earned run on three hits and striking out nine.</p>
<p>Trevor Gott, pitching two innings, was crediting with the save.</p>
<p>Josh Chapman, pitching 3.1 innings of relief got the loss.</p>
<p>Kentucky leaves the 2011 Houston College Classic with a 1-2 record and will face Eastern Kentucky at home on Tuesday evening.</p>
<p>Utah posted a 2-1 record in their first appearance at the Classic. 		<description><![CDATA[<p><span class="slot"><img src="/images/pixel.gif"></span>The Houston Cougars (6-4, 0-0 C-USA) snapped its three-game losing streak by downing the Kentucky Wildcats (4-6, 0-0 SEC) 8-5 in the second game for both teams at the 2011 Houston College Classic.</p>
<p>The Cougars came back from a 2-1 deficit in the top of the seventh inning; scoring six runs to take a 6-1 lead.</p>
<p>The Wildcats scored a single run in the bottom of the inning and pulled within two in the bottom of the eighth, scoring two more runs.</p>
<p>Houston scored another run in the top of the ninth to ensure the three-run victory.</p>
<p>UH drew blood first in the top of the first inning on a single by Caleb Ramsey which scored London Appling from second.</p>
<p>Kentucky came back with a two-run inning in the bottom of the fourth, scoring Chad Wright on a Luke Maile home run.</p>
<p>Maile took a 1-0 pitch from Houston pitcher Jordan Lewis, knocking it in the deep left field for the two RBI round trip.</p>
<p>Houston then uncorked the bats in the top of the seventh, scoring six runs on seven hits; leaving two men on base after the hitting exhibition was over.</p>
<p>Jake Runte led off the inning with a single, and advanced to second on a fielder&#8217;s choice.</p>
<span class="slot"><img src="/images/pixel.gif"></span><p>M. P. Cokinos was called in to pinch hit for Travis Trial. He quickly singled up the middle scoring Runte from second. Joel Ansley was then substituted as a pinch runner for Cokinos.</p>
<p>John Cannon then tripled to right field, scoring Ansley, followed by Landon Appling reaching first on a fielder&#8217;s choice.</p>
<p>After Cannon was thrown out at home by Wildcat shortstop Taylor Black, Appling stole second base and advanced to third on a wild pitch.</p>
<p>Ryan Still also advanced to second on the wild pitch after being walked.</p>
<p>Ramsey then singled through the right side, scoring both Appling and Still.</p>
<p>Matt Creel got in on the assault with a single, advancing Ramsey to second. Chase Jensen also hit a single, advancing Creel to second and scoring Ramsey.</p>

<p>Right-hander Alex Meyer (1-1, 3.00 ERA) will start for the Wildcats, while left-handed pitcher Jordan Lewis (1-0, 1.64 ERA) will handle the duties for&#160;the Cougars.</p>
<p>In the nightcap, Texas A&#38;M (8-2, 0-0 Big 12) will meet Rice (7-4, 0-0 C-USA).</p>

		<description><![CDATA[<p><span class="slot"><img src="/images/pixel.gif"></span>The Utah Utes came into the 2011 Houston College Classic with a 0-5 record to begin their 2011 season.</p>
<p>They left the field at Minute Maid Park after 2.5 hours and came away with their first win of the season; a 2-1 victory over No. 9 Texas A&#38;M.</p>
<p>The Utes (1-5, 0-0 MWC) took the lead in the top of the seventh inning on an RBI single by outfielder Shaun Cooper, driving in outfielder Galvin Green.</p>
<p>Utah took the early lead in the top of the first when shortstop James Brooks led off the game with a double.</p>
<p>First baseman C.J. Cron then drove him in with an RBI single.</p>
<p>The Aggie came back in the fifth inning to tie the game with a sacrifice bunt by center fielder Krey Bratsen, which scored third baseman Adam Smith.</p>
<p>Rick Anton received the win for Utah, going seven complete innings giving up five hits and one earned run while striking out eight.</p>
<p>In one inning of relief, Nick Fleece was charged with the loss.</p>
<p>Utah will next face Baylor at the 12 noon Saturday game while the Aggies will face Rice at 7 pm.&#160;</p>

<p>The Bears scored their five runs on nine hits, while the Cougars could manage only two runs on eight hits.</p>
<p>The game saw a total of six errors committed&#8212;two by Baylor and four by Houston.</p>
<p>Pitcher Logan Verrett allowed only one earned run in 6.2 innings in the Baylor win.&#160;</p>
<p>Third baseman Jake Miller went 3-for-4, along with scoring a run.</p>
<p>For the Cougars, left fielder Jake Runte went 3-for-4 and scored both of Houston's runs. Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Runte got his first hit of the game, a single down the left field line. He stole second base before scoring on Ryan Still's RBI single down the left side.</p>
<p>Baylor then&#160;took advantage of&#160;two Cougar errors in the sixth inning, allowing two runners to score to give the Bears a 5-1 lead.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[<p><span class="slot"><img src="/images/pixel.gif"></span>Friday night, the University of Houston&#8217;s Cougar Field saw a battle of the undefeated as the Houston Cougars (4-1, 0-0 C-USA) faced off against the University of Mississippi Rebels (6-0, 0-0 SEC).</p>
<p>Ole Miss downed the Cougars 4-2 in front of 1233 fans.</p>
<p>The Rebels got on the scoreboard first when Alex Yarbrough doubled down the left field line, scoring Tanner Mathis from second, making the score 1-0.</p>
<p>They scored again in the second inning when Mathis hit a sacrifice fly to left field allowing Zack Kirksey to score on the throw.</p>
<p>Ole Miss added another run in the fourth when Mathis got on base on a fielders choice, advancing Preston Overbey from third to home.</p>
<p>The Cougars finally got on the board in the bottom of the sixth when Chase Jensen singled to the third base side, allowing John Cannon to score from third.</p>
<p>They added another run on a bases-loaded walk by Caleb Ramsey, scoring Landon Appling.</p>
<p>Ole Miss got back their two-run lead in the top of the seventh when Yarborough singled to left center field, scoring Blake Newalu from second.</p>
<p>The Cougars never could get their bats connecting, recording seven hits in the game while committing two errors.</p>
<span class="slot"><img src="/images/pixel.gif"></span><p>Appling went 2 for 3 with one run for the Cougars while Newalu went 3 for 4 for Ole Miss.</p>
<p>Matt Crouse got the win, giving up six hits, striking out eight while walking a single batter. He is now 2-0 on the season.</p>
<p>Codey Morehouse took the loss, giving up three runs on five hits. He goes to 1-1 on the season.</p>
