College Baseball World Series 2012: Why UCLA Will Not Be Stopped

The UCLA Bruins opened play in Omaha with a dominant victory and the team will continue to roll all the way to a national championship.

The tournament’s No. 2 seed crushed Stony Brook 9-1 to start its campaign. Stony Brook was one of the big surprises in the field at the College World Series, and the Bruins proved that they are in a different class from the underdogs.

UCLA showed discipline, poise and polish all the way through the win. This team does not attempt to do anything flashy. The Bruins do not make mistakes and always get results.

Coach John Savage said after the big opening win, “It was a typical Bruin win. Nothing fancy—no big home runs or anything. It was just more kind of plate discipline, using the middle of the field,” via Brian M. Ayers of the New York Times.
