Arizona State Batter Gets Hit by Pitch, Catches It, Throws It Back to Pitcher

Washington State's Layne Bruner plunked Arizona State outfielder Johnny Sewald to load the bases in the sixth inning Saturday night. Instead of charging the mound, Sewald did something you really don't see too often.

He caught the baseball. Then he threw it back. 

The pitch hit Sewald right in the torso, enabling him to cup it with his elbow. He calmly took the ball and flipped it back to Bruner.

To add to this rare highlight, the announcers' reaction was priceless. Daron Sutton and Eric Byrnes went absolutely nuts. 

"This is one of the greatest things I've ever seen on a baseball field!" Byrnes screamed. 

Arizona State won, 6-5, on a walk-off hit by Andrew Snow in the bottom of the 11th.
