SEC Baseball Tournament 2014: Breaking Down Early Single-Elimination Results

The SEC gets credit for being the best football conference in the land, but it may actually be more dominant on the baseball diamond than the gridiron. 

The SEC tournament kicked off play Tuesday with single-elimination contests. The event, which takes place in Hoover, Alabama, features 12 of the league’s 14 teams and eight squads ranked in the NCAA’s top 30. No. 8 LSU, No. 9 South Carolina and No. 10 Vanderbilt are all in the top 10, but it was actually No. 14 Florida that earned the top seed for the conference tourney.

The top four seeds (Florida, Ole Miss, LSU and South Carolina) all received byes into the double-elimination portion Wednesday, but the rest of the teams had to play in do-or-die situations Tuesday. Here is a look at some of the early results.
